Don't Bite My Finger!

These are just fingers pointing to the moon. These are just milestones pointing the way. And the way is in, continually in---in to becoming aware of your true nature.

The true way is sublime. It cannot be expressed in language. So what use are scriptures? But some one who sees his/her own nature finds the way even if he can’t read a word.

One of the greatest Zen masters was Hui-neng. He was the sixth Zen master after Bodhidharma. He couldn’t read a word! He was illiterate; he came from south Chine. He burned all the Sutras; he said, “It’s just dust from the past...
Everything the Buddha says is an expression of no-mind. But since his body and expressions are basically empty, you can’t find a Buddha in the words.
